Laura Russo
BA (Hons) (History), MA (History), IPEd Professional Member
Laura genuinely relishes the nit-picky and fastidious work of poring over text, rectifying inconsistencies, finessing sentences and ensuring arguments are coherent and tightly structured.
Since 2015, she has worked as a freelance editor and writer specialising in nonfiction, particularly academic and research-based work. She collaborates with academics, postgraduate students and organisations on theses, journal articles, reports and other publications.
Laura has worked on projects across a diverse range of fields, including criminology, law, international development, history, mental health, community justice, housing and medical research. She enjoys working with complex material and helping clients express their ideas clearly and persuasively.
Before freelancing, Laura held research, policy and education roles at the Australian Institute of Criminology, the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care, Arts Victoria and Court Services Victoria. Recent clients include the Hudson Institute of Medical Research, Monash Sustainable Development Institute, Engineers Without Borders, and the Victorian Principals Association.
She is a Professional Member of the Institute of Professional Editors.
